Sims Castaway Lost Recipes?

Hopefully someone out there will have information or ideas on this.

On my cooked food recipe chart (in the game), I have some cooked food recipes showing, but about half of the page has a picture of the cooking rock with a fire going…and a big X crossing it all out.

Are these lost recipes that I’ll be unable to collect?  Why did this happen?  Is the fire supposed to be kept going all the time and if it’s not going then when the recipe pops up it gets lost?  That doesn’t make any sense but I can’t think of other possibilities.  Well, one other, that they would require an ingredient that for someone reason will never show up in this particular game.  Or maybe it requires some other fireplace upgrade that maybe uses a spit instead of the rock.

Sims Castaway Canoe

I’ve read across the internet of a few people who’ve made their canoe but can’t seem to get into it.  I did not have that problem.  The following is a list of the things that I did that involved the canoe and/or energy levels and maybe something here will help someone else.

  • You need the hammer and chisel to make the canoe.   (The Dr has a hammer handle available for trade.)
  • The canoe had to be worked on for at least 3 days.  When you click the canoe you get the option of examine or make.  If you click make, you spend all day working on the canoe, then have to sleep then go back and click make, spend all day working on it again, and repeat at least one more time.
  • At the end of the final work on the canoe, an arrow will pop up on the ground (it didn’t look like a normal arrow if I remember correctly…kind of skewed due to the angle of view).  If you click on the arrow, then you get the Next Area choice.  Clicking on that shows you pushing your canoe into the water and next thing you know you’re on the other island.
  • I had prepared food in my inventory.  (Some people had said something about “not enough energy”.)
  • I had a full sleeps rest, so my energy level was maxed.   (This is for the “not enough energy” people.)

Hopefully something from the above will help people.  If it’s helped you, please leave a note here telling which one was the problem’s solution.
