2nd Day WithOut Glasses

Tonight ends the second day in a row without glasses.  My eyes do tire, and it’s often frustrating that I can’t see more than a foot in front of my face, but it hasn’t been all bad.  Walking without the glasses is still relaxing.  And practicing looking at single points/parts instead of letting my eyes glaze over to get a general gist of what’s in front of me has been a wee bit painful (short bursts) yet, fun.  I’m having to be more in the world instead of off in my head, less day dreaming.  I can’t tell yet if there’s been any improvement.  I don’t know how to judge what is real and what is imagined in terms of improvement.  I found a way of maybe getting more objective measurements to track.  I just have to actually sit down and get it set up.  Maybe this weekend?

Speaking of this weekend, this afternoon I received a phone call from the eye glass place informing me that my daughter’s and my glasses are in.  So saturday I’ll have to drive us in (Richard’s going to be busy) so that the glasses can be fitted.  I don’t want to wear my glasses.

Note:  Richard had me call the store, they close at 6pm on weekdays.  We’ve decided that Richard will come home after work and as soon as Manta’s home from school then he’ll drive us into town to get the glasses.  Yay!! this means I won’t have to wear glasses to drive.

Is it too pathetic to say that I hope that I won’t have to wear the new glasses at all?  Even after paying an extra $40 each on top of what the insurance paid?

On another good benefit of this is that I won’t be driving the van hardly at all, which means less gas being used.  And with the gas prices nearing $4 per gallon, That’s some saved money.  (even after the $40 each pair of glasses, heh)  I will, however, have to begin writing down what items Richard will need to pick up from the stores after work.  As well as try to get things planned so that he’s only gotta do 1-2 grocery trips a week.  Heh, me…plan…funny thought.

Anyhoot, I hope that I’ll finally get to do some reading from the natural vision book(s) I have access to.  I’m thinking of making a page that covers summaries of what I’m learning as well as of suggested exercises.  We’ll see if I actually do that though.

Oh, I suppose I should mention that I only used the pinhole glasses for watching an hour of tv.  I’m getting used to learning how to see out of them, but still find them requiring a lot of work that I’m not used to doing with my eyes.

Bedside Done

Last night I finished decluttering my bedside.  What’s there?

  • Box 1:  my medications, allergy masks, wrist guards, and prescription glasses.
  • Box 2:  massage pads and such for relaxation
  • Box 3:  small electronics such as digital video camera, mp3 player, nintendo ds system, ear phones
  • Box 4:  a handful of “office supplies” which probably shouldn’t be in the bedroom, special pens/pencils, my best calculator, a stuffed animal Richard gave me, some memorabilia, and *sigh* yes, some snack foods (hard candy, gum, and skittles….whatever lasts a while and not quickly chewed up and swallowed).
  • tissue box, garbage can
  • phone, laptop, cell phone charger, pinhole glasses
  • “control journal” (aka FlyLady Control Journal… an organizer containing phone numbers & addresses, bills, checkbook, cash, daily/weekly/monthly checklists, etc)
  • Box 5: I had hoped to not have this box there, but it seems to be a necessity at the moment.  It’s basically a box that has my current project in it, whatever book(s) I’m reading currently, whatever papers/printouts I’m working with currently, and my daily to do lists etc.

It’s nice having the leg room now.  And it’s nice walking into the bedroom and feeling/seeing that area cleared up.  And it’s nice waking up in the morning and not having to worry about knocking things over.  And it’s more soothing when I go to bed at night.  Like I said though, I probably shouldn’t have that project box in here.  But currently the living room has a bunch of Manta’s boxes and empty boxes.  I don’t want to lose these project items, nor have them damaged while I move things around out there.  So for now, this is a good place.  But eventually I’ll have to see about keeping this box in the living room to reduce working on the bed and under poor lighting.
