Whah!
Richard drove us into town as soon as Manta got home from school. We went to the eyeglass place to get the glasses. However, the lady said that only mine were in, Manta’s weren’t. Huh? The phone call had said that both were in, and I had even asked to make sure that both of them were in. I dunno what happened.
Thankfully the glasses fit perfect the first time. Sudden sharpness hurt. The glasses look good on me, I think. And the seasickness just from that first try on almost tipped me over.
Then we went to Office Max. I was looking for something specific, but I didn’t know how to try to describe it without sounding stupid. So I had to put on my glasses to see if I could find it.
Then we went to get some bake-at-home pizza for tomorrow, and I had to wear my glasses to see the menu choices.
Then we went to the grocery store deli to pick up dinner to eat at home. And yet again I had to put on my glasses in order to see the menu prices/options. Grrrr.
On the way home, my eyes and forehead were tight and I was feeling frustrated because I hadn’t wanted to wear the glasses today, but I wound up wearing them anyways even if for short bursts. After two and half days without glasses, I’m sad to say that it was almost a relief to have a few moments of clarity. That clarity can be seductive. And I fear my weakness for it.
This weekend I will be putting in some work on Manta’s boxes, sorting them out, getting rid of garbage, etc. A few moments of clarity while doing so will be a hard thing to refuse. Maybe if I limit how much I’ll do at any one time, keep it very small so that I feel less overwhelmed? I don’t know. What I do know is that it will be stressful.
I’ve also got to spend some time getting some basic notes done so that I can get a list of actual exercises/habits to work on and maybe a plan to follow regarding them. I’ve also got to get the measurement tracking figured out. Ugh, too much to do.
Edited to add: Yep, the seduction is harsh. While typing up the “Reading with Vision” page, I caved and put on my (older) glasses so that I wouldn’t have to balance laptop + notepaper and be able to get it typed out quickly with minimal fuss/stress. I took them off immediately afterwards, but that doesnt alter that I gave in so easily.
