Holes in my gums??

Yesterday, while eating lunch, I felt something tug on the left inside of my mouth.  I used my tongue to check it out.  I felt a flap of gum and my tongue went into a hole.  I freaked.  My stitch had come off and the hole hadn’t closed!!

So I quickly called the dentist’s office, hoping they were open this saturday.  The phone gets answered and so I explain the situation, unsure what I’m to do next.  She says it’s normal, that when the stitches come out that there will be a hole there where the tooth was.  (I guess I can look forward to this for the other two.)

For safety precaution though, I’m rinsing my mouth out with salt water after each meal.  Supposedly salt water helps reduce mouth infections and such.

Today, at lunch time, I finally attempted to chew a toasted cheese sandwich, using my left molars (and avoiding the right side with the root canal).  I’m having to go very slow, but it’s faster than using my front teeth to cut the food up.  And finally…saliva’s getting produced.  Don’t know that I’m ready yet for carrots.

Carrots.

I’ve been dreaming of carrots lately.  I really really wanna munch on some.  I think that the desire came because I can’t at the moment.  I really hate being told that I’m not allowed or can’t do something.  It almost automatically has me wanting to do it.  Like with snow.  I don’t like traveling into town, I don’t like driving the distance, etc.  But when I get snowed in, when I CAN”T safely take my vehicle onto the roads, that’s when I WANT to do it.  I start dreaming of driving into town.  I start noticing things that we might need soon and I want to get them NOW.  But as soon as the snow clears up….  I no longer have the desire to go into town.  Same thing is happening with carrots and my teeth right now.

Soon, soon.

I still have a hard lump on my right side of my jaw.  My cheek still hurts.  My teeth ache (a general ache, and kind of almost all my teeth)… the kind of ache from when I have a sinus infection .  I used my nails (tore them up in the process) and got some of that sharp edge from the temp filling removed, so now the edge is smaller and in a slightly narrower area for slicing my tongue.  I’m still rolling my tongue away from that area though.  I think that might be another cause for the general achiness.

But my tongue is now able to move freely almost anywhere in my mouth.  And I use it to check out the areas where the wisdom teeth were removed.  It’s kinda weird to have my teeth end so far from the corner of the jaws, now.  It’ll definitely make it easier for brushing.  I had had to use a small headed toothbrush before just so that I could reach all the way into the back to get the top two wisdom teeth.  I won’t have to do that anymore.  YEAH!

oh yeah, regarding that hole in my gum….  soon after hanging up with the dentist office, and after rinsing, I explored that area tentatively, and I guess the outside part of the gum hole was sticking close to the main part, because i couldn’t find it easily and it seemed to want to stay close together.  I wish I could look inside and see how things are, there.  It’d be kinda cool to see how it all heals up and such.
