September 2008

  • Evening Routine:  this covers things like dental care, using the carpal solution if needed, and pills. (deleted 9/20 finally)
  • Food w/o Entertainment:  no food w/ tv, computer, reading, games, etc.  (except on S days)
  • No S Diet:  No snacks, No sweets, No seconds.  (except on S days)
  • Tea before every meal:  1 cup of green or rooibos tea with lemon about 15 min before every meal. (deleted on 9/6/08)
  • Tea in morning:  1 cup of green or rooibos tea with lemon/lime soon upon waking up and before any food is eaten. (added on 9/6/08) (deleted 9/20 finally)
  • Daily Stretches (deleted 9/20/08)
  • Manta Time:  a minimum of 14 min time period spend doing something (good/fun) with Manta.  (deleted 9/20 finally)
  • Draw 14 min:  practice drawing/doodling every day. (deleted 9/20 finally)
Tea Note1: it turns out that I just cannot stand the taste of tea, even if I try to cover it up with lime juice and honey.  Well, at least that way i can drink it without gagging.  So I’ll spend the month of september only doing one cup of tea per day, in the morning, and trying to figure out how to make it easier to drink.  Preferably enjoyable, but at the least easier.
Morning Routine Note: It wasn’t worth keeping marks on it.
Evening Routine Note: It wasn’t worth keeping marks on it.
Tea Note 2: I don’t like tea.  Figuring out the timing of when to have it and when can have the meds it might effect was too difficult.  If I want some, I’ll drink some.  If not, then I won’t force myself to.
Manta Time Note: It’s not a good idea to set a habit goal that involves the compliance or willingness of the other person.  I’m going to have to figure out what actions I, personally, can do to help encourage time between her and I, but where it doesn’t require her assent since our timing seems to be off from the other’s.
Drawing Time Note: It seems that I cannot focus on trying to accomplish something while doing other things as well.  I can start a number of things at once, but if I actually want to accomplish something, or finish it, then I have to remove distractions so I can try to keep focus.  Distractions are always coming and going though.  Why can’t I just start things and never have to actually finish them???  Anyways, figuring out the cooking/food stuff has taken all my attention.  It’s too important to me to let myself not finish.  So this desire/destraction has to go for now.  :(  At least I’ll be ready to pick it back up when the time is right.  :)
Daily Stretches Note: I’m playing around with fitness possibilities, including stretching, ttapp, and shovelglove.  But nothing seriously enough to make a calendar specifically to track it.

Just commenting on the last day of September. Healthy foods, and healthy eating turned out to be the primary goals of this month. I don’t regret striking out the other goal attempts. Thanks to that book “The World’s Healthiest Foods”, as well as Dandelion Delivery (a Community Supported Agriculture type thing), we’re well on our way to a much much healthier lifestyle.

Sometime this week I’ll be setting up October’s lifestyle goals. And I hope that October turns out as successful as September did.

    For the month of September:
    starting weight = 196.4 (9/1/08)
    highest weight = 197.4 (9/3/08);
    lowest weight = 189.4 (9/25/08)
    ending weight = 190.4 (9/30/08)
